About Us:


Andy Sarroff
Andy is a Master's student at the Music Technology program in the Music and Performing Arts Professions Department in the Steinhardt School of New York University. He received his BA from Wesleyan University in 2000 and operated as a chief house and freelance recording/mixing engineer until 2006. His main research interests include perceived spatial attributes of produced musical recordings and how those may be applied towards music informatics. Andy is an organizer for the NYU MTech Research Group Seminar and was a recipient of the Dean's Grants to Support Graduate Student Research 2008-09. Andy is the Principal Investigator of this study, which is being conducted as a component of his NYU Master's thesis.

Dr. Juan P. Bello
Dr. Bello teaches and researches on the computer-based analysis of musical signals and its applications to music information retrieval, digital audio effects and interactive music systems. He earned his doctorate in 2003 from the University of London in the UK, later becoming post-doctoral researcher and, since 2005, Technical Manager of the Centre for Digital Music at Queen Mary, University of London. In 2006, Dr. Bello joined the Music Technology program at NYU, where he is an Assistant Professor. Dr. Bello is the faculty sponsor for this project.
